Tuscan Archipelago | VelAltura | Sailing school for children
VELALTURA
The cruise for the grown-ups! Reserved exclusively for those over 16 years of age, this 13-day cruise is an approach to real deep-sea sailing. The itinerary, weather permitting, will take you down the Corsa western coast and will allow you to experience adventure and nature, discovering suggestive places such as the towns of Calvì, Ajaccio and Bonifacio as well as unique places such as the beach of Saleccia, the Scandola Reserve, the Girolata, the Bocche di Bonifacio and the Archipelago of La Maddalena. Alternatively, if the weather forecast is not suitable, we will descend the eastern side of Corso with stops at Scoglio d'Africa, Portovecchio, the islands of Cavallò and Lavezzi, the Bocche di Bonifacio, the Archipelago of La Maddalena, the Costa Smeralda. The embarkation is scheduled from Marina di Scarlino on July 19, the disembarkation on August 31 in Olbia, Sardinia. Given the age of the participants, this is the only cruise proposed in bed and breakfast.
TO WHOM IT IS ADDRESSED
A single proposed embarkation date, July 19th, for this cruise which, as usual in the flotilla, is strictly dedicated to those who want to deepen their knowledge of the English language but experiencing a real cruise on the high seas.
Long sailing and a greater sense of responsibility on the part of all participants!
For these reasons, in addition to the duration of 13 days and the possibility of circumnavigating Corsica counterclockwise, it is reserved only for participants between 16 and 25 years of age.
There are two possible solutions for this cruise which will sail on July 19th from the Marina of Scarlino and which will see the crews disembark at the port of Olbia on July 31st in the early afternoon. In principle, the cruise will descend the Corsa coast from its western side and then the itinerary will touch the Island of Elba, the Cap Corse, Calvi`, cross the Scandola Reserve, the Gulf of Porto`, the Gulf of Ajaccio and "its" Sanguinarie Islands, to continue to the Bocche di Bonifacio and the discovery of the archipelago of La Maddalena.
ENGLISH SAILING AND FULL ENGLISH OFFSHORE PROGRAMME
The educational proposal is designed and realized for those who do not want to live the sea only as an opportunity for swimming and sunbathing, but also for those who want to deepen their knowledge of navigation and English language.
Unlike the proposal Altura - English Sailing, the Full English Sailing version provides that the official language on board is English. Therefore, even if the boat is flying the Italian flag, on board all the comparisons, conversations, explanations regarding charting, berths, sail adjustment, etc. will be in English only, H24. This type of cruise is designed for those who have an English level at least B1.
In addition to the Captain on board there will be qualified staff provided by Helen Doron English who will have the task of helping and stimulating the participants with team games, activities, songs, pictures and videos that aim to encourage them to speak and discuss in English on topics close to them and, in the case of Full English Sailing, deepening the correct pronunciation of words and expressions. The participants will also find the specific willingness of the Captains to transfer to them those bases that can allow them, one day, to navigate on their own. This type of cruise is designed for those who have already lived life on board and, knowing them, accept the rules and dictates.
WHY CHOOSE VELALTURA?
- To live the sea not only below the coast, sailing during the day and, why not, also at night.
- To deepen your knowledge of the English language.
- To learn the art of seafaring using the instruments on board, nautical charts and choose the berths according to the weather.
- Take advantage of the knowledge of new peers to get out of the usual group of friends.
COMPULSORY IN A SUITCASE
- Spirit of adaptation.
- A desire to share.
- Availability to the next.
- Acceptance of the rules.
DAY TYPE
Given the type of proposal there is no real typical day.
The Cruise sets sail on July 19th from Marina di Scarlino to reach Olbia, Sardinia, on July 31st. The days and, therefore, the cruise itself, will develop in relation to the weather and the safe anchorages that the navigation area offers.
It may be nice to share in the crew the sunrise after a night navigation, chase, sailing, a herd of dolphins or let yourself swing, in the evening in the cockpit, in the moonlight under a carpet of stars.
DATES AND METHODS OF EMBARKATION AND DISEMBARKATION
The date of embarkation of the High Altitude proposal is only 19 July.
Appointment at 12:00 noon at the elegant Marina di Scarlino (GR), from which you will sail in the afternoon.
Disembarkation is scheduled on July 31, in the port of Olbia, from where participants over 18 years of age will be able to return with their own means to their homes.
Upon parents' request, underage children, accompanied by the Education Sport staff, can return by ship to Civitavecchia and from there continue by train to Roma Termini or Milano Centrale station.
