SECURITY DEPOSIT INSURANCE TO BE LEFT AS GUARANTEE TO THE CHARTER COMPANY
The boats offered for charter are generally covered by hull insurance (full hull coverage), which includes an excess ranging from €1,500 to €6,000, depending on the value of the boat.
This amount usually corresponds to the security deposit requested by the charter company as a guarantee against any damages that may occur during the charter period.
In case of damages, the charter company is entitled to withhold all or part of the paid security deposit.
Security deposit insurance protects the client against this financial risk, with no deductible applied.
It can be arranged with external insurance companies specialized in the nautical sector and requires a premium that varies depending on the amount of the deposit to be covered.
Upon arrival at the embarkation base, the client must in any case pay the security deposit to the charter company (usually by credit card pre-authorization). In case of damages, the client will be required to settle the amount due and obtain a detailed invoice of the costs, to be submitted afterwards to the insurance company in order to obtain reimbursement.
