Ko Chang navigation area

The Koh Chang archipelago, a national park, consists of more than 70 islands and islets, most of which are still uninhabited. It is part of the province of Trat, the easternmost province of Thailand, bordering Cambodia. The main island, which gave its name to the archipelago, covers an area of 492 square kilometres and is the second largest in the country after Phuket. Boat rentals or single boarding are ideal for exploring the jagged coastline of Ko Chang, which is rich in attractions, and then on to other beautiful surrounding islands. Without forgetting to visit the interior to meet the ancient local traditions that include the use of elephants in agricultural work and other activities, and to reach, with different trekking routes, beautiful waterfalls immersed in the forest. The coast alternates more vitaiole areas, with hotels, restaurants, clubs and discos, sometimes dominated by nature and fishing villages dedicated to the same techniques for generations.

There are many renowned beaches. Just to mention, Hat Sai Khao, wide with white sands and palm groves, very popular; Hat Khlong Phrao and Laem Chaiyachet, also preferred by tourists, but quite quiet; Hat Tha Man, also called Lonely Beach although a paradise for many young people looking for entertainment and special accommodation such as tree huts. Quiet and an enchanted landscape in Ao Bai Lan. Relaxed atmosphere in Hat Kaibae, and even more so in Bang Bao Beach, essentially a fishing village located at the southern end of the same coast, known for its excellent fish. Other interesting fishing settlements are the remote Salak Phet, the charming Hat Sai Yao with its beautiful beach, and Bang Bao, a charming village on stilts. Around Koh Chang there are 52 islands still almost virgin and in some cases uninhabited, all to be discovered. The navigation touches sea areas with amazing seabed, coral prairies and an incredible heritage of fauna, especially multicoloured tropical fish. The top is reached on the stretch leading to the islands of Koh Mak and Koh Kood, near the Cambodian border, true masterpieces of nature and very little tourist.
