 BALEARIC ISLANDS - LUXURY YACHT

The Balearic Islands are a crossroads of different people and cultures. They have ancient traditions and new modes, and for this reason they have always attracted sailors around the world and have a lot to offer to those who visit them. Each summer there is an ever-growing army of holidaymakers of the most varied species, also because they are favored by a particularly mild climate and a privileged geographical location. Traditionally divided into two groups, Mallorca and Menorca to the north-east and Ibiza and Formentera to the south-west, the Balearics have for centuries attracted the peoples of the nearby coasts, from the Carthaginians to the Moors, from the Spanish Conquistadores to the English, and they are extremely diverse for landscape, traditions and culture. The entire Balearic Archipelago, in spite of the remarkable tourist development of the last decades, offers those who sail along its coastline places of unspoilt beauty. It is an itinerary that allows you to alternate quiet landing in clear and transparent waters with lots of visits in the world of the most famous resorts, where even the interior of the islands is still largely to be discovered.

MALLORCA

It is the largest island of the Archipelago and boasts an ancient tourist tradition. Palma, its capital, is a great Roman city, where recent monumental hotels mix with Gothic and Moorish palaces, castles and old noble houses. The gardens and the narrow streets of Medina Mayurka, the Arab baths, the Cathedral, the Castle, the Gothic building of the Lonja, the boutiques of the lively paseo Maritimo and Via Jaume III, these are just some of the artistic and historical witnesses offered by Palma. On one side of the old town lies the great beach of Arenal, on the other the suburb of El Terrain, where nightlife is concentrated. The port of Palma is very large and offers many mooring possibilities. On the west coast there are very popular beaches (Cala Major, Bendinat, Portals Nous) and the tourist port of Puerto Portals, Port d'Andraitx is the meeting place for water sports enthusiasts, while Palma Nova and Magaluf are the favorites of British tourism. Inside you can admire the charming mountain range of Tramuntana. The south is arid and brittle, but in the shoreline here and there you can find some sandy beaches with crystal clear waters and the beautiful resorts of Es Carbò, Campos and Santanyi. The eastern slope of the island is characterized by the rocky coves called Calas de Majorca and, of course, the beach of Marcal deserves to be seen. To the north, the main destinations are the picturesque village of Pollanca, the Natural Park of Albufera, the great gulf of Alcudia (very touristy) and the most secluded bays of Cala Mesquida and Cala Estreta.

MINORCA

Despite its proximity to Mallorca, it has little to do with it. The terrain's flatness and the impetuous tramontana are characteristic features of the island. A little everywhere, moreover, there are archaeological excavations. The most picturesque access road to the capital Mahón, located at the eastern end of the island, is the stretch of sea overlooking the large harbor surrounded by cliffs. The impression of British architecture is still visible in Mahón. The city dominates the landscape from above and to reach it you need to climb a long staircase intersected by narrow lanes. Esplanada Square is the center of peasant activities, while the harbor hosts the nightlife. Exactly the port of Mahón has a lot to tell and its location, at the end of a long fjord, makes it one of the best natural harbors in the world. Near the city are the beaches of Alcaufar and Punta Prima, north of the ones of Mezquida, south (where the coast is marked by rocky canyons called barrancs) the wide arenas of Cala Porter, Son Bou, S. Tomas and Santa Galdana.

CABRERA

It has been preserved by tourism attacks since it has long been a military zone. Cabrera has allowed the survival of some rare animal species and a state of preservation of the exceptional marine environment, so much to become National Park. Puerto Cabrera, on the northwest coast of the island, is one of the most impressive anchorages of the Balearics, with a ruined castle and few houses. Along the coast of the island there are numerous berths.

IBIZA

It is only 50 miles from the continental coast. The capital Eivissa is a white town climbing the hills in the eastern part of the island. The harbor is wide and safe and you can enter both day and night in any weather condition. The old neighborhood of Dalt Vila, cozy and crammed with bastions, is a picturesque plot of streets full of boutiques, chic bars, exotic restaurants and souvenir shops, where the most entertaining and popular clubs are also located. Vara de Rey Avenue is a meeting point for the jet set, where the snobs and viveurs mingle with a composite crowd of islanders, tourists, and crews from the docked boats. Nearby the city are the beaches of Cala S. Vincenc and Portinai, but the clearest corners of the sea are in Talamanca, Figuerets, Cala d'Hort and on the promontory of Ses Salines. Leaving the clamor of Eivissa, the island regains a more austere face along a coastline made of impressive mountains overhanging the sea. The nicest part is the North-West, which offers some lonely berths. Cala Badella, Cala Codola and Cala Salada are the most beautiful creeks, surrounded by ocher-colored rocks and edged by sandy beaches, while the port of Sant'Antonio is well restrained. Do not miss the Conejera islands, just off the harbor. At the far North, Cala Portinai, a sloping jungle coastline, is among the best Ibiza berths.

FORMENTERA

Just a few miles south of Ibiza, the low and small island of Formentera becomes the everyday beach. The long Playa Isletas, where a row of islets forms several coves, and Puerto de Espalmador bay are among the most impressive anchorages of the Balearic Islands. It has preserved in the landscape and traditions an authenticity that has lost itself in the major islands of the Balearic Islands and, in fact, its beaches are among the most beautiful in the whole archipelago. Mandatory stop at Playa de Illetas, with its kilometers of sandy expanse, lined with pines, and with its crystal clear waters. Climbing on the coastal massif of La Mola, the tallest relief, you can embrace with one glance the crucial geographical position and the appearance of Formentera and you can dominate the whole island. Porto La Sabina, north of the island, is the destination for all boats.
