Marmaris / Fethiye / Gocek

The three bases are located in strategic points of the Turquoise coast, so called because of the characteristic of most of the waters that bathe it. Choosing this long stretch of sea in the eastern part of the Aegean for a bareboat cruise or cabin cruise means actually entering one of the most spectacular sailing areas in the Mediterranean. There are many alternatives to choose from, given the presence of more touristy and lively places, with renowned and popular beaches, trendy clubs and an international public, and secluded places, half-hidden bays, delightful coves with clear waters and coastal villages where roads barely exist. Sometimes a short hike inland or the ascent of a navigable river is enough to encounter fascinating vestiges of the past. But even near the shore it is not uncommon to come across Lycian tombs or remains of settlements that the sea has submerged. The kindness of the population is almost disarming, especially in the smaller, isolated centres.

Mondovela has boats and catamarans available for hire or cabins for cruises in southern Turkey, which can be used practically all year round. From Marmaris on an easterly route, don't miss a stop in Ekincik for an excursion along the Dalyan River, along the famous beach of Iztuzu to the historic Caunos and the town of Dalyan with its spectacular Lycian tombs. Near Gocek is a blooming of small bays and islands that accompany Fethiye, the Greek Telmessos, a lively and characteristic port, to reach the lagoon with the beach of Olu Deniz. It is still a parade of beautiful bays and high cliffs that draw the bow south in search of mythical places and clear waters. Here then is the enchantment of the Greek site of Letoon, a few kilometres from the endless sandy shore of the famous Patara.

And even further down towards Kas, dominated by the castle and steeped in tradition. Here it will be difficult to resist the short crossing that leads to Kastellorizo, the splendid remote island in Greek territory, star of the Oscar-winning Mediterranean film. Again the coast and just inland the fascinating Lycian, Roman and Byzantine remains of Apollonia, then the welcoming island of Kekova, famous for its submerged city and also for its fresh fish. Going up Ucagiz to prepare for the "mirage" of Myra, an archaeological area with spectacular Lycian rock tombs of great appeal. Here only time is a limit, because the sea seems to be dominated by the song of the sirens, which inexorably chain and invite you to continue.
