Our cruise includes two itineraries:
5/12 August: North Route embarkation in Lefkada and disembarkation in Kefalonia
12/19 August: South route embarkation in Kefalonia and disembarkation in Lefkas
Here are some of the main stops:
LEFKADA
Close to the coast to which it is connected by a bridge, Lefkada is a mountainous island full of vegetation. The real surprise is found on the eastern side, with the enchanting bay of Nidri, bordered by an archipelago of islets adorned with cypresses and olive trees. From here you can go up to the Vliho fjord, or wander among the small islands owned by the magnate Aristotle Onassis. Along the route to the south we meet Meganisi and its characteristic marinas and clubs, a little further to the west, Kalamos and Kastos which offer quiet moorings.
ITHACA
When the profile of Ithaca is seen on the horizon, the myth materializes: Ulysses is there. Finally you can touch the legend. Like all the Ionian islands, Ithaca is gentle, with small dark mountains, surrounded by a lively sea and kissed by a climate that is never suffocating. In reality, on the island there is no trace of Argos or suitors, no monuments or false museums, but the emotion of the myth pervades everything anyway. The village of Vathy radiates around a square along two or three kilometers of winding streets. From Stravos, 17 km to the north, several interesting excursions depart, such as the one to the archaeological site of Mycenaean finds. In twenty minutes you can climb the Pilikata hill, home of Odysseus.
KEFALONIA
From Ithaca you can continue towards Kefalonia to land at the village of Fiskardo, the northernmost port of the island, which maintains its traditional characteristics intact. The small port that welcomes sailors arriving from the sea is full of restaurants, taverns, small typical shops. Its coasts are dotted with picturesque coves of golden sand or shiny pebbles and steep cliffs lapped by the crystalline sea. With a little luck, it is possible to come across specimens of seals or sea turtles. But as well as from the sea, the island must also be discovered inside: the Monastery of Sant'Andrea, with its precious icons, the castle of S Giorgio built by the Venetians in 1504 and, again, the town of Katelio and, a little further on, the village of Skala, where you can admire a building from the Roman era, rich in mosaics.
ZAKYNTHOS
Very high cliffs and white beaches where turtles are born. Among expanses of cypresses, olive trees and wild hyacinth, which gives its name to this protected oasis, one gets lost in the discovery of the island. "Never again will I touch the sacred shores / where my boyish body lay, my Zakynthos...", immortalized in the poem by Ugo Foscolo, Zakynthos is an island of impact with breathtaking views, with rocks that drop sheer on the small bays with a sea so turquoise that it seems painted. Like that of Koroni, near Katastari, small and milky, due to the hot spring that flows under the water. To visit the church of San Nicola al Molo, a jewel of the seventeenth century, exceptionally intact.
