Baleares

Pride of Spain, one of the most famous and popular destinations in the Mediterranean, and yet always capable of surprise. Because there is so much to see and so much to discover. And the boat is the ideal means to choose, at will, relaxation and nature or the caliente movida of places celebrated in the world. Mondovela selects boats and catamarans for charter in the best bases of the Balearic Islands, both the boat alone and with the cabin crew formula, not to mention the very popular summer flotillas.

Majorca is the main island, rather touristy. On the other hand, the shrewd sailor always knows where to find half-hidden coves with clear waters and delightful beaches, or a village where to enhance the Mallorcan cuisine and the island's wines. A modern and lively city, the capital Palma has important monuments, such as the Gothic cathedral, restored by Gaudí, the Almudaina and Episcopal palaces, the Ayuntamiento. Once you have sailed north, you can reach the caves of Artà and then Capdepera, to see the castle, the tower of Canyamel and Cala Ratjada. Further on Cala Mesquida, with its emerald waters. A first taste of other beaches and coves not to be missed, such as Cala Torta, Cala Varques, and towards the south, at Mondragó Natural Park, Cala Figuera and Es Trenc beach, a Caribbean fragment shipwrecked up to here. Inside, the area of the Sierra de Tramontana, with its traditions, monuments and famous places such as Sóller, Valdemossa and Pollença, is worth seeing.

Menorca is the island of Spanish sailors. Many enthusiasts, including royalty, meet here. And it is easy to meet them in the cafés of Mahon, the elegant capital dominated by the military fortresses of Mola and Marlborough. The coast is rocky and jagged with some notable attractions, such as Cala Coves and Cova d'en Xoroi, suggestive caves with a panoramic bar for a super mojito at sunset. A parade of beaches, some secluded, others more beaten up, can be found in the area of Ciutadella extending eastwards: Son Saura, Cala en Turqueta, Cala Macarella, Cala Macarelleta, Cala Galdana, Cala Mitjana, Cala Trebalúger. Sailing north-west the stars are Cala Pilar, Algaiarens and Cala Pregonda.

It needs no introduction Ibiza, one of the world capitals of entertainment, destination of international celebrities, cradle of famous clubs like Pachá, Amnesia, Ushuaïa and Space. But perhaps few people know that for its wealth of biodiversity and traditional culture it has been declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO, and has a Blue 5 Star Marina. Beyond the nightlife Ibiza is a concentration of beauty, from the impressive city walls of Dalt Vila in the upper part of Eivissa, to the teeming streets of the centre, the necropolis of Puig des Molins, Plaça des Parc, to the enchanting beaches and bays that surround it. From the spellbinding to the night long can be done wonderfully westwards, between the islands of the Nature Reserve of Es Vedrà, Es Vedranell and the islets of Poniente and then on to Cala d'Hort and Platges de Comte, alternating fantastic baths with well-deserved relaxation.

A handful of miles and it is immediately Formentera. Small and delightful, "discovered" in the '70s by hippies, despite its fame it still offers dreamlike atmospheres and the magic of places kissed by magnificent nature. You can immediately understand it by giving the bow towards the beach of Ses Illetes, chosen several times as the best in Spain, or Llevant, or even, in the western part, Cala Saona for a mooring suspended in transparency. Other beautiful beaches and coves in the south. Small bars, trendy clubs and Spartan Ciringuitos are scattered everywhere, and everything invites you to let yourself go to recharge your batteries and forget all stress. For a souvenir or a small cadeau, the right place is the craft market of La Mola, marked by an old windmill.
